Michelle’s 40-year journey with the Credit Union began in 1985, thanks to a colleague’s glowing recommendation. At the time, Michelle was banking with one of the “big ones,” but joining Chevron FCU felt like a natural next step after starting her career with Chevron. It didn’t take long thereafter for Michelle to realize that the Credit Union’s small-scale setting didn’t equate to small-scale service when she took out a Personal Loan to consolidate her credit card debt.

“One of my first – and most memorable – experiences was taking out that Personal Loan,” Michelle recalled. “A loan officer named Fritzy made a suggestion that changed my life. I wanted the shortest repayment terms possible, but she explained that a longer loan term would give me more flexibility and help me avoid financial strain. That single interaction helped me take control of my financial future. Her guidance has stayed with me for over 40 years.”

For Michelle, that level of personal and attentive service is truly what sets the Credit Union apart.

Another standout moment for Michelle was when her church needed help counting coins collected during Easter, and the Richmond branch manager invited them to use the Credit Union’s coin machine free of charge. This small gesture saved the church countless hours of work and reinforced Michelle’s connection to the Richmond branch, which she affectionately refers to as her “Cheers,” a place where everyone knows her – and her family’s – name.
